Course Description
COVID-19 taught us that Guardians need advanced communication skills in order to connect and advocate when face-to-face contact is limited. This research-based presentation shares proven strategies for gathering information, explaining complex medical topics, and making effective decisions when in-person contact is not possible.
Objectives:
1. Participants will review the NGA Standards regarding involving a person in their decisions
2. Participants will apply the challenges of including the individual in decision-making during COVID to their typical decision-making role
3. Participants will be introduced to a tool to guide conversations about medical decision-making
